Unpicker

external image LargeThreadUnpicker.jpgBe careful not to cut yourself on the finger or hand with the blade of the unpicker. Don't put your face so close to the unpicker while you are unpicking, because you might stab yourself in the face when you are trying to unpick, because you might push too hard with the unpicker.

Textile Techniques
  • For you to do in your wikifolio
  1. Conduct your own research on textile manufacturing and decoration techniques, as well as completing samples in class time.
  2. Include all of your research in your wikifolio.
  3. Evaluate each technique and it's suitability to be used on your project.
  4. You may like to include photographs of the samples you complete in class time, as well as construction steps or any other information you see as important.
  5. You may use techniques we do not cover in class time, such as; beading, cording, fabric paints, sequins, buttons etc.

EMBROIDERY- Embroidering is decorating the fabric with needle and thread. There is a lot of embroidery stitches. Such as Counted-thread embroidery- which is decorating the fabrics with clear visible warp and weft threads.

TIE DYING- A reason to tie-dye is that it makes each garment of piece of cloth a small, neat bundle--much easier to handle if you have a lot to do. If you don't tie, but just apply the dye directly, you need more space and can do fewer garments or pieces of fabric at a time.
